๐Ÿ’ก Understanding this feature

The cache is an essential mechanism to ensure fast loading of your e-commerce website. It helps reduce heavy technical processes for each visit and optimizes the response time of your pages.



๐Ÿ› ๏ธ How does the cache work?

First visit: When a visitor accesses a page for the first time, PrestaShop runs all the necessary code (product data retrieval, calculations, display, etc.). At that point, a "prepared" version of the page is cached.

Subsequent visits: For other visitors (or the same one), PrestaShop doesn't redo all the calculations: it uses the cached version, only recalculating certain blocks related to the user (e.g., the number of items in the cart). Result: the page loads much faster.



โš ๏ธ Why is it important?

Without caching, each page would be fully recalculated every time it loads, which leads to:

  • excessive server resource consumption,
  • noticeable site slowdown,
  • poor user experience,
  • risk of losing SEO ranking (Google penalizes slow websites).


๐Ÿค” How to enable cache in PrestaShop?

Enable and properly configure caching in your PrestaShop back office under โ€œAdvanced Parameters > Performanceโ€. This activation should be followed by a full check of your front office.

Regularly check that your cache is working correctly and doesnโ€™t store outdated data.



๐Ÿ’ก Tip: If possible, use an advanced caching system (such as the Varnish cache system or a module like Page Cache Ultimate).
